So who are we, really? Read on to meet us!
Eve Hartman, Principal and Founder
In 1999, Eve opened Hart Evening with the goal of bringing her love of science to students everywhere. Since then she has written or contributed to dozens of science textbooks and ancilliary products published by McGraw-Hill, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Heinemann Raintree, and other educational publishers.
In 2003, Eve earned her doctorate in biochemistry. As her publishing schedule allows, she lectures at several community colleges in the Minneapolis area, where she makes her home.
Susan Vorlag-Masterson, Executive Editor
Susan joined Hart Evening in 2005 to handle the increasing volume of science projects being awarded to the agency. A former elementary school teacher, Susan brings to her work an extensive background in science and science education, as well as her keen understanding of age-appropriate content and “what makes a sentence work for the reader.”
Susan lives in Bloomington, Minnesota, with her husband and their two children. She is very proud that her older boy is now studying one of her textbooks at school!
Dan Johnson, Lead Writer
Dan has been accepting writing assignments from Eve and Susan since 2006, and he shows no signs of stopping. Much like Eve and Susan, Dan combines his love of science education with strong writing and language skills to bring science content to life for young audiences.
Dan earned his master’s degree in science education in 2010. He works with teachers and students at several schools in St. Paul, Minnesota.
